The design seeks to rejuvenate an existing residence by taking advantage of city views to the south and maximise indoor and outdoor living spaces to the north. Setback significantly at the front, the existing residence lacked a sense of address and connection to the street. To overcome this, additional living space was added to the front of the dwelling with defined external areas for various activities. Key to this was the inclusion of a raised concrete awning with green roof. Functionally, it provides a covered space for entertaining out of the sun, whilst also creating a 'fifth facade’ with the green roof able to be viewed from the elevated entry off the street.
